Andy, you’re entirely right. Often the main upgrade comes with new vulnerabilities – which are patched later in the “smaller” upgrades. For a small operation – a lot to keep up with.

Brian, your comments are true, but give some of us a break. This is a bad time in our economy and everyone is trying to save where they can. I think most people who decided to buy a package with Marvel Logo is not ignorant and realize they aren’t hiring someone who is going to produce a masterpiece logo for this low cost. We invested in the $99 package from this company…not expecting to get some grand result, but after seeing what they “claim” they produced, we expected to get some reasonably acceptable logo. I recommend anyone considering to buy from them to save their time and money and go elsewhere. I wish I would have read some of these comments prior to dealing with them. They were ridiculous to work with. They didn’t follow our requests, they gave us things we didn’t ask for and didn’t give us things we did ask for, they didn’t provide what they say they will do. It’s been a mess and a huge waste of our time. Okay, we’re out $99…but I’m glad to be done with them. I guess you can say it’s a lesson learned.

Thank you for this post! It is a breath of fresh air that you get it. You can’t always upgrade, and simple upgrading isn’t always enough. When I discover a serious WordPress security issue, I generally find a patch for my current version, or I make one myself.

Ironically, the advocates of upgrading early and often point to the automated web-based upgrade feature. But using that creates additional security holes that can’t be prevented. I know you need a sysadmin to do it, but the manual upgrade is so much safer.

Wow, every comment above decribes exactly what happened t me. I was very excited when I came across the marveldesign website and even more excited when I got my logos withing 48hrs but the first shock was when I viewed the logos, rubbish, total rubbish.. I couldn’t believe it. I sent an email stating my dissatisfaction and oh yeah, I paid for the business cards, didn’t get that.. No responses after about a week (very disappointing)… I did get my money back and will research the next company before placing my order..

And yeah, I decided to look up some of the companies they claim to have made logos for – couldn’t find any…. complete fraud site… Listen to all the comments, stay away.

I am a professional designer and have been in the business for 10 plus years. There is now way in hell you are going to get any sort of reputable artist to design a logo for under 300. I would starve to death if I worked that cheap. What on earth is wrong with you people?

He only give me the logo i like but the business card and letter he don’t send to me the original files…

Marvel Logo Designs must be sued! They used the logo of Gulf air http://www.marvellogodesigns.com/portfolio.php?page=5&cat_id=&catname=
in the name of Target Firm.
And their works are very unprofessional.

Thanks for the plug! I’m happy to see that my plugin is useful to other bloggers.

To reveal the “something mysterious” happening behind my site’s name: I went to a small college, where the instructors took attendance. My maiden name (Kleinschmidt) caused my first name to get cut off on the attendance sheet: “Kleinschmidt, Aliso.” Teachers usually understood it was Alison. One teacher that I’d had before called me Aliso all quarter as a joke. The nickname then followed me to work, where my boss expanded it to “Aliso the Geek.” They even got me a birthday cake one year with that nickname on it.

It felt right to use it for my blog… the domain wasn’t taken, and “aliso” is a username that is almost never taken on any membership site I see.

I agree! These people suck! My logos were awful and very juvenile. I could have done a better job using clip art! Save your $50 and hire a real professional to design your logo.
